The recruitment process can be frustrating however, you need to be resilient.
A recruiter’s priority is their client first, and you as the candidate, second – their energy must go into finding the top 3 candidates for their client – as harsh as this might sound, they do not owe you a job and they do not have to find you a job.
Recruiters in Agencies are often juggling up to 16 roles at a time and if you think 16 roles times around 100 applicants each role…that’s a lot of people to think about!
So, be pleasant and never harrass, hassle, whinge or complain – your aim is to inspire confidence so that they genuinely will fight for you to get an interview.
If you are not offered an interview find out why – it may mean that you need to adjust your search, or you could have just missed out by someone slightly more qualified. You may feel better if you discover that you performed admirably against hundreds of other applicants.
Touch base with them every 3 months advising them of your availability. Spread yourself around – don’t rely one just one agency to offer you opportunities that match your skillset.
Last words? Be nice!
